BAHA Member, Mike Ward has graciously extended an invitation to all BAHA members and their families to a cookout and open house at his farm in Simpsonville, Kentucky on Saturday, July 17, 2010. The festivities will start at 5 p.m. with dinner being served at 6 p.m.
Mike will be serving his award winning Barbecue Ribs, with his secret barbecue sauce (he says he'd have to kill you to give you the recipe!) and our own BAHA President, Rick Tosch, will be grilling up his famous roasted corn. Those of you that have been to Falling Leaves Trail Ride know that Rick knows how to grill some corn!! Bring your favorite summer side dish or dessert to share. Iced Tea and Lemonade will be furnished
After dinner Mike will give a tour of his facilities and the opportunity to view his horses. After the tour everyone is encouraged to sit around the fire pit and visit with their friends.

Directions will be sent by e-mail next week.
The emails have been pouring in with the superb results of our BAHA members and their big wins with their four legged buddies! One thing is for sure, BAHA members know how to bring home the ribbons! Check out these wins!
Bill and Henrietta Ellzey bought HSA Amazing Grace from Jerry and Barbara Johnson several years ago with plans for "Grace" to be a western pleasure mount for Henrietta. Grace had other plans. This past winter, Grace headed over to Martha Murdock's barn for boot camp. No one ever imagined the results would come so quickly. Martha's best friend, Bask Elect, is Grace's sire and Martha quickly notice the resemblance in Grace and her work ethic. If you get the chance to see this dynamic duo, you will be awfully impressed with the bond these two talented ladies have formed. Clearly the judges have noticed! Check out their latest show results!

The ladies of FIrelight Arabians have been busy little bees in the show ring the past few weeks. The FIrelight girls and trainer Lorie Henderson made a whirlwind trip to Region 13 and then to Region 14, only stopping to take a break for one day in between each of the shows! From the looks of their results, the girls must have been putting in some overtime to bring home all of these ribbons!

Most of us know BAHA Member, Mary Ann Allen as the "trail queen" of the club. In case you didn't know, Mary Ann has started competing this year with her four year old Arabian mare, Mychava. Mary Ann has done all of the trail work herself and has clearly done a phenomenal job! Mary Ann has been cleaning house at some open shows in Kentucky and Indiana, but finally came to take home some ribbons on the Arabian circuit! Congrats Mary Ann to you and Mychava! We are proud of all you have accomplished!
Mary Ann was recently named Regional Champion...twice! With scores of 74.5 and 72.5, Mary Ann was Champion in both the Open and Amatuer Arabian Trail Classes at the Region 14 Arabian Championships!!

No stranger to the show ring, Jerry Johnson decided to show his two year old half-arabian gelding this year in a few Class A show. While attending the Hoosier Horse Classic in June, the Johnson's and their gelding, HSA Comet's Magic Man, were lucky enough to run into "Junior's" sire, HSA Haley's Comet and his mom, Beth Noteman. Junior placed 2nd with a score of 84 and was shown by Beth Noteman in the Half-Arabian Sport Horse In Hand Geldings, 2 and under. After the classes, Mary Ann Allen was able to capture a few pictures of this great family!

While most of us were enjoying the cool breeze weather during Region 14, several other BAHA members were exhibiting their horses at Region 11 in Sprinfield, Illinois. David and Olivia Stone currently have their 4 year old stallion, Rodeo Road, in training with Strand's Arabian Stables. David, Olivia, little Norah and breeder of Rodeo Road, Rick Tosch headed north to see "Harvey" compete in the Arabian Western Pleasure Junior Horse class. Harvey was awarded a Top Five in a very deep class. Harvey was even third on the cards! Harvey is headed back to Strand's in Iowa to gear up for U.S Nationals with Jennifer Schmitt in Arabian Western Pleasure Junior jorse and Arabian Western Pleasure Maturity with owner Olivia Stone.
Harvey's full sister, Angylia, is also in training with Strand's Arabian Stables as well. Angylia is owned by BAHA members Rick and Jennifer Tosch. Angylia went to her first under saddle horse show in May at the NIAHAC show in Springfield, Illinois. Not sure what to expect from their beloved mare, Angylia won first place in a competitive western pleasure class with trainer Jennifer Schmitt beating out some big name trainers and horses! Rick and Jennifer felt like they had just won a National Championship! Sometimes that first blue is everything! Angylia is currently in training with Jennifer Schmitt gearing up for an amateur career with Jennifer Tosch in the future.
